A self-taught designer, Daniel got his start freelancing before joining the advertising firm DDB in Venice Beach. In just two years, he grew that team from just five people to nearly 40. In his time at the company, he touched almost every aspect of Square's design aesthetic. Square went public under the ticker symbol SQ in 2015, valued at over $3.6 billion.
In 2016, Daniel left Square and founded Blackletter Ventures, where he is a design advisor and early-stage investor. He advises some of the best teams in the world at LendingHome, Hello, ForUsAll, Empower, and Present Company. He's also an investor in more than 30 companies, including Madison Reed, Stance, Managed by Q, Clarity Money, and GoodEggs.
